Although the durations of SWEs occurring in wakefulness (Mdn = 620 ms) did not significantly differ from the durations of N1 SWEs (Mdn = 765 ms) ( U = 1870 , P = 0.85), they were significantly longer than the durations of N2 SWEs (Mdn = 540 ms) ( U = 157 876 , P < 0.001) and N3 SWEs (Mdn = 525 ms) ( U = 269 824, P < 0.001).
